Young adult German Shepherds will range in training from basic to advanced obedience and from protection foundation (play drive building) to advanced protection work. During this stage of training we work on the skills included in the AKC Canine Good Citizen exam. We socialize our German Shepherds through our group training classes and by taking regular field trips.

Our trained adult German Shepherd dogs precision focused heel, recall under distraction, walk politely on and off leash, hold behaviors like sit/down and place for hours at a time. They play with toys with you, retrieve, and tug. These dogs have lived in our home and have house manners based on our high expectations in the home. They are well behaved around children. Each German Shepherd is an individual and will have their own strengths and weaknesses and things that they have excelled at in the training process. We will provide a no-nonsense assessment of each dog’s training progress and help you develop and carry out a plan for any additional training you desire.

What is Protection Dog Training
Protection Dog Training, done right, makes a dog more confident, focused, motivated, capable and obedient.
Protection training can be focused to a specific sport and style such as IGP Schutzhund style work which is focused on a sleeve and a specific routine from the sport of Schutzhund. Dogs with strong possession drives often excel in this style due to the ability to use possession of the sleeve or other equipment as rewards by releasing the sleeve to the dog.
Sports such as French Ring, Mondio Ring, PSA and others use a full bite suit and provide increased realism to the style of biting the dogs will perform during training and trial.
“Real World” “Street” “Patrol” “Civil” and/or “Executive” Protection dogs are dogs that have been focused on to the human, not the equipment. Done right this should be a process that happens later in a dog’s protection training.
